FTL: 2448, Faster Than Light 2448 is Tri Tac’s offering into the space genre. It takes place in the year 2448, after earth has entered the age of light speed travel. We have met other alien races and have formed a sort of galactic cooperative called ISCO, the Interstellar Cooperative. And to deal with crime and enemies, a militia was formed called ICL or Interstellar Court of Law. And none too soon either. An enemy was encountered called the Hagu.

With their vast numbers and their lackey cronies, the Zankees, they intend to conquer known space. While FTL may seem like a game of interstellar trade, a GM can make a campaign as epic as the Star Wars trilogy.

FTL 2448 is another Tri Tac game, created by Richard Tucholka. It is in its fourth edition and has undergone very little change from the original FTL 2448. It comes in two books and is very informative. If anyone ever questions the value of roleplaying games as an educational tool, merely show them the FTL 2448 books. I personally have learned to plot a point on a 3d graph from this game as well as the distance of neighboring stars and their names. The game is very simple to learn and can be made as easy or as complex as the GM desires. Newcomers to roleplaying will find FTL 2448 or any other Tri Tac game easy to learn. A GM can make the playability of the game as easy or as realistic as they want merely by using ifferent charts in the book. It is a truly fun game to play if you are looking for a space game to adventure in. Modules from other space games can easily be converted for use in FTL 2448. The selection of aliens that a player can choose to play is impressive and the character creation is quick enough to allow a player to get into a game quickly, yet comprehensive enough to be realistic without being overbearing. We have enjoyed FTL 2448 for several years now and look forward to many more.
